Tasks
The Tasks feature displays a comprehensive list of Snowflake tasks that you can view through Slingshot. From the Tasks Listing & Task Details pages, you can monitor task health, investigate run failures, and track cost and performance trends for the scheduled workloads that keep your data pipelines running.
To access Tasks, in the left hand navigation menu, select Workloads > Tasks.
Roles for Tasks
Currently, only Tenant Admins and Tenant Viewers can access to View Tasks in Slingshot.
What can I do with Tasks?
The Tasks page displays a unified table of all tasks a user has access to. Users can perform the following actions:
View task table: Monitor key metrics across several columns:
- Task name: Links to the details page.
- Status: Review last run status and history of last 10 runs.
- Financials: Monthly cost, average cost per run, and 30-day cost changes.
- Context: Associated Account, Warehouse (linked), Owner, and Schedule.
- Metrics: Last run timestamp and P50 / P95 duration.
Search & Filter: Locate tasks by name, ID, or account. Filter by status, warehouse, owner, or account.
Export Data: Download the table to CSV, including Slingshot deep links.
Status Tracking: Quickly identify never-run, failed, or suspended tasks using standard status icons.
Task listing
The Tasks page provides a centralized view of Snowflake tasks that have executed at least once in the last 30 days. By default, it shows only tasks with a total cost of at least $1, however, users can filter to include all tasks that ran at least once in the last 30 days, regardless of cost.
- Search: Use the search bar to locate specific tasks by name.
- Filter: Narrow the results using the Filters menu (Status, Warehouse, Owner, Account).
- Export: Download the current view to a CSV file. The export includes deep links to each task in Slingshot.
- Pagination: Adjust the display density (10, 25, or 50 rows) using the controls at the bottom.
Table column definitions
- Task Name: Links to details; displays the database & schema path underneath.

- Account & Schedule: Displays the truncated account ID and the cron or interval schedule.
- Warehouse: The compute resource used; includes links to warehouse details.

Task details
From the Task Listing page, select a task name to access in-depth cost, performance, and run history data:
Quick Insights and Summaries: Real-time cards showing Cost, Runs, Success Rate, Duration, and Bytes Scanned with period-over-period changes. Selecting a card adjusts the chart and table to the corresponding chart and table view.
Interactive Charts: There are four charts you can select:
- Visualizations for Duration (P90/P50/Avg)
- Runs per Day (stacked by outcome)
- Cost over Time
- Bytes Scanned
Right Sidebar Data: There are three options you can view:
- Summary: Run frequency, owner, trigger roles, query tags, and Snowflake links.
- Settings & Alerts: Account path, auto-suspend, and threshold alerts for failure spikes.
- Change History: Audit log of changes tracked by ID to maintain accuracy during renames.
View task runs
The All Runs tab provides granular execution data, including:
- Aggregate View: High-level metrics per time increment (Total runs, cost, success rate).
- Individual Run Log: Detailed log showing start times, status, duration flags (2x P90), and associated queries.
Impact analysis
You can compare any two time periods to evaluate changes in Success Rate, Cost per Run, Duration, Spillage, and Scanned Data metrics.
